The water from
your pond should always pass through the UV Steriliser before entering
the BioFilter. To check if the UV bulb is working, simply look for a purple
glow from the units inlet and outlet hosetails. for best results site the
BioFilter/UV at the top of the waterfall where it can be easily camouflaged
amongst the plants. If you are using a Topflow system or Green Genie these
systems can be partially buried to further aid invisibility. Clear, clean
water can now pass easily into your pond. |
 |
Use as wide a bore hose as possible to reduce
friction and maintain a good flow rate. Make sure there are no tight bends
or kinks, as this will also reduce flow rate. Most aquatic professionals
use black ribbed hose pipe. |
 |
Your Otter pump should be placed in the pond
as shown in figure 3 unless you are intending to use a foam jet when the
jet should be at least 10cm (4in) below the surface. Place the pond on
a pump support or rounded stone to help prevent the inlet filter clogging.
Regular maintenance of your pump will prolong its life |

If you are having to clean the pump's inlet pre-filter
too often the installation of a Trident Remote pre-filter, replacing the
original pre-filter, is recommended. It should be situated as shown in
figure 4 to minimise the need for cleaning. |
